Brussels Yoga Class Descriptions
The practice is a vinyasa flow sequence designed by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India (ashtanga vinyasa) to open the body and awaken the spirit. This practice focuses on synchronization of breath with the continuous flow of movement. A vigourous practice that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and mental focus. Empower yourself and gain mental clarity while enhancing core strength and flexibility.
The Yoga Loft seeks to make the practice accessible to men and women of all ages and fitness levels. Varying classes suit differing needs:
Intro to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
A class designed for pure beginners or those desiring to work at a slow pace. This is the place to build a strong foundation and understanding of the practice of Vinyasa Yoga, gain a greater sense of inner awareness and self-confidence, and develop more flexibility, strength, balance and clarity. Students are taught the classic Ashtanga sequences pose-by-pose. The teacher assists and adjusts practitioners verbally and individually.
Modified Primary Series
In this practice, students flow from one posture to another, synchronizing breath and movement. The class begins with sun salutations, standing poses, and balancing postures, then moves to seated forward-folds, twists, backbends and inversions. Exertion may range from mild to vigorous and emphasis may vary depending on the level in the class. Beginners and those with a therapeutic self-practice welcome.
Full Primary Series
Experience the full sequence of ashtanga vinyasa's primary series during an 1½ hour practice. The Full Primary Series offers further asanas to enhance and round out the Primary Series practice.
